The following is the introduction of all welded ball valve for natural gas.
Body Material: Select a suitable material for the valve body that offers excellent corrosion resistance and mechanical properties for natural gas service. Common materials include carbon steel, stainless steel (e.g., ASTM A105, ASTM A216 WCB, ASTM A351 CF8M), or alloy steel (e.g., ASTM A217 WC6).
Ball Material: Choose a material for the ball that is compatible with natural gas and offers good corrosion resistance and wear resistance. Stainless steel (e.g., ASTM A351 CF8M) or alloy steel (e.g., ASTM A217 WC6) are often used for the ball in all-welded ball valves.
Sealing Material: Select sealing materials compatible with natural gas and capable of providing reliable sealing performance over a wide range of temperatures and pressures. Common options include PTFE seats and seals for soft-seated valves, or metal-to-metal seats for high-pressure and high-temperature applications.
End Connections: Specify the type of end connections required for the valve based on the pipeline configuration. All-welded ball valves typically have butt-weld end connections to ensure a permanent and leak-tight seal. Flanged end connections may also be available for certain applications.
Fire-Safe Design: Consider specifying a fire-safe design for the valve, incorporating features such as graphite or metal-to-metal seals to maintain sealing integrity even in the event of a fire, in compliance with industry standards such as API 607 or API 6FA.
Enhanced Safety: All-welded construction eliminates potential leak paths associated with bolted or threaded connections, reducing the risk of fugitive emissions and enhancing safety, particularly in critical natural gas applications where leaks can pose safety hazards.
Reliable Sealing: Welded construction provides a permanent and leak-tight seal between the valve body and end connections, ensuring reliable sealing performance over the entire service life of the valve. This helps prevent leakage of natural gas and minimizes the risk of environmental contamination.
Suitability for Buried Service: All-welded ball valves are well-suited for buried service applications, such as underground pipelines, where protection against soil corrosion and external environmental factors is essential for long-term performance and integrity.
Fire-Safe Design: Some all-welded ball valves are available with fire-safe designs, incorporating features such as graphite or metal-to-metal seals to maintain sealing integrity even in the event of a fire, enhancing safety in natural gas facilities.
The ball's holes are aligned with the flow when the valve is at opening position. When the valve handles on top turns to 90-degrees, the ball's holes are at closing position, while the flow will automatically shut down.
As opposed to low pressure ball valves, high pressure ball valves are typically used to withstand high operating pressures and they keep streams of fluid and other media under control and allow the system fluid to pass through. High pressure ball valves are highly durable due to the high quality production and good performing after several cycles.
When selecting an actuator for an all-welded ball valve used in natural gas applications, several factors need to be considered to ensure proper functionality, reliability, and safety. Here are the key considerations.
