Pneumatic Actuated 3 Way diverting Flanged PN16 or ANSI 150 Stainless Steel Ball Valve provides safe operation for both general and industrial chemical applications, offering superior performance and reliability. A pneumatically actuated 3 way full bore valve with Stainless Steel body and reinforced PTFE seat.

Actuation is either Single or Double acting with a range of configurable options including limit switches, solenoid valves and positioners.

  1. Closed Position: In the closed position, the ball is rotated so that the hole or bore running through the center of the ball is perpendicular to the flow path of the pipe. This blocks the flow of fluid entirely, effectively sealing off the pipe and preventing any further movement of the fluid.
     

  2. Open Position: To open the valve, the ball is rotated 90 degrees, positioning the bore parallel to the flow path of the pipe. This creates a straight-through passage for the fluid, allowing it to flow freely through the valve.
     

  3. Controlled Flow: The degree of opening of the valve can be adjusted by partially rotating the ball, allowing for precise control over the flow rate of the fluid. This makes ball valves suitable for applications requiring throttling or modulation of flow.
     

  4. Sealing Mechanism: When the ball is in the closed position, elastomeric or soft-seated seals, such as O-rings or PTFE seats, located around the perimeter of the ball, ensure a tight seal against the valve body and end connections. This prevents leakage of the fluid when the valve is closed.
     

  5. Handle or Actuator: Ball valves can be operated manually using a lever or handwheel attached to the valve stem, or they can be automated using actuators such as pneumatic, electric, or hydraulic actuators. Actuators allow for remote operation and integration into control systems.
     

  6. Fast Operation: One of the key advantages of ball valves is their quick operation. They can be opened or closed rapidly with just a quarter turn of the handle, making them ideal for applications requiring rapid response or emergency shutdown.

Ball Valve Components

Although there are numerous parts making up the valve the basic components are made up of the following:

The Valve Body
Also referred to as the valve housing or shell, it contains all the inner components of the valve. Usually composed of a rigid metal, in this case Stainless Steel, it protects all the internal components and keeps them in the correct position and aligned for proper functioning. It also facilitated access for the external handle to connect with and rotate the internal ball, via the stem. The valve body comes in three assembly options: one-piece, two piece and three-piece designs.

The Rotary Ball
This is the part that gave the valve its name. It is a ball that has "flow path" known as a bore, through the center that allows the medium to flow through it. The ball is rotated by the stem, which either opens the flow when the bore is in-line with the pipe or closes the flow when the bore is perpendicular to the flow. There are two types of bore design: Full port and Reduced port.

The Stem
Also referred to as the shaft, it connects the external handle that rotates the inner ball. The Stem has washers and packing rings to ensure a tight seal and to prevent any leaks. The stem is rotated as the handle is turned, which in turn rotates the ball, opening and closing the flow.

The Seat
The Seat sits between the ball and the valve body and ensures a water tight seal. There are two seats that sit on either side of the ball and are usually composed of (PTFE).

The Handle
The handle is also often called the lever. it a standard ball valve it is the manual way used to turn the ball valve to the open or closed position.
