The core function of the safety valve is to precisely control the pressure and prevent the medium pressure in the equipment or pipeline from exceeding the specified value. • Spring-type safety valve: Use the elastic force of the spring to balance the pressure of the medium on the valve disc. When the medium pressure is greater than the pressure set by the spring, the valve disc is lifted and the safety valve opens; when the pressure drops to a certain level, the spring force causes the valve disc to return to its seat and the safety valve closes.
• Lever-type safety valve: Use the torque of the lever and the weight to balance the force of the medium pressure on the valve disc. When the torque generated by the medium pressure is greater than the torque of the lever and the weight, the valve disc opens, otherwise it closes.
1. Nominal diameter: refers to the nominal diameter of the inlet and outlet of the safety valve, usually in millimeters (mm), which determines the flow capacity of the safety valve.
2. Nominal pressure: indicates the maximum working pressure that the safety valve is allowed to withstand at the specified temperature, in megapascals (MPa).
3. Opening pressure: also known as set pressure, is the pressure value at which the safety valve starts to open during operation, generally set according to the working pressure and safety requirements of the equipment.
4. Discharge pressure: after the safety valve is opened, the inlet pressure when the valve disc reaches the specified opening height. The discharge pressure is usually higher than the opening pressure.
5. Seat return pressure: after the safety valve discharges the medium, the inlet pressure when the valve disc closes again. The seat return pressure is lower than the opening pressure.
6. Rated displacement: under the specified discharge pressure, the medium flow rate that the safety valve can discharge, the unit can be kilograms per hour (kg/h) or cubic meters per hour (m³/h), etc.
7. Throat diameter: The minimum diameter at the outlet of the safety valve seat, which has an important impact on the displacement of the safety valve.
8. Flow channel area: The cross-sectional area of the channel through which the medium flows through the safety valve, which is related to the throat diameter and is used to calculate the flow capacity of the safety valve.
9. Applicable medium: Specify what medium the safety valve is suitable for, such as steam, air, water, oil, gas, etc.
10. Applicable temperature: refers to the temperature range in which the safety valve can work normally. Exceeding this range may affect the performance and life of the safety valve.
