The double flange triple offset butterfly valve is an advanced and high-performance type of butterfly valve designed to provide superior sealing capabilities, durability, and efficiency in critical applications across various industries. Let's delve deeper into its introduction:
Double Flange Design:
The double flange configuration refers to the valve body having flanges on both ends. These flanges provide secure connection points for bolting the valve into a pipeline, ensuring stability and ease of installation. The double flange design allows for bidirectional flow, meaning the valve can be installed in either direction within the pipeline.
Triple Offset Geometry:
Unlike conventional butterfly valves, which typically have concentric or single offset designs, the triple offset butterfly valve incorporates three distinct offsets:
Shaft Offset: The valve shaft is slightly positioned off-center from the centerline of the valve body, reducing friction and wear during operation.
Disc Offset: The valve disc is also offset from the centerline of the valve body, facilitating a tighter seal with minimal friction.
Seat Offset: The valve seat is machined at an angle to the centerline of the valve body, creating a non-rubbing, interference-free sealing contact between the disc and seat. This offset design significantly reduces wear and enhances sealing performance, particularly in demanding conditions with high pressures and temperatures.
Butterfly valves are quarter-turn valves that are best used for the stop/start of media flow in pipelines. When the valve handle is turned 90°, it either opens or closes completely. Throttling can be a bit tough, but these valves can still be used for regulating purposes.
Butterfly valves are usually installed in a fully open position. This is because installing the valve in its closed position can cause difficulties with the seat and seal positions.
